D#2 HW#3-6 (PG. 6, PG. 8, PG. 12, PG. 26)

I couldn't watch the motivational podcast, it just wasn't working for me. Read both chapters 1 & 2. Not as bad as i thought they were going to be.

3.) How have you conducted research before?
I have conducted research many ways. I'm a fan of google, if i have no idea where to start with something I seem to always find ideas and information from there. It's never failed me to go to the library and browse what they have to offer for my particular research situation. Also, depending on what I am researching it's usually beneficial to get out and about and check things out myself. For example i did a paper last semester on architecture in Arizona. I gathered most of my information by actually going out and about and seeing it for myself. I've also tried trial and error.
4.) How do research processes compare?
Each of these research methods will offer different information depending on what it is you are trying to get out of the information you are gathering. For example if you are getting information online you will need to be sure that what you are reading is credible and current. Also its always different to experience something for yourself in order to get a better perspective on things as opposed to reading about someone elses take on it.
5.) How do rhetorical situations compare?
Depending on the rhetorical situation and audience your writing may be formal and detailed or informal and vague.
6.) What are your writing idiosyncrasies?
When I'm writing I usually like to brain storm and write an outline in an effort to get my ideas on paper and well organized.

  1. Marissa, I agree with how you talked about research processes. I am always concerned that the stuff I find on the Internet is legit.

  2. Marissa,
I'm the same way when it comes to research, I'm a big fan of google. I wish they would have had this my first time around.

  3. Hey Marissa! I know I'm so so late with this comment but I'm in catch up mode right now.

I agree with you, I'm a fan of Google but I definitely use Ask.com more often as I can get better results. I loved it when it first started and it was AskJeeves.com ... he was great! And it is better if you can get out there and experience your research first hand.
